Making Decisions as Your Future Self

The story of the acorn & the oak tree

Have you heard that zen saying, the one about the acorn & the oak tree?
It goes like this:
In order for an oak tree to grow, it requires two forces. The first is, obviously, the acorn, seed from which the tree can sprout. The second though is the oak tree itself.
It's as though the future tree must want to come into being so much that it wills itself from seed into tree. Because the oak tree is already in the seed.
And yes, this is a great metaphor for life.

To have what we want to have in the future, to do what we want to be doing, to become who we ultimately want to become requires our current self line up with and start acting as that future self. The one who already has that thing, does the doing, and is that being.
This is the work I have been doing lately on myself. To make decisions not from my current self but as the future version of me I most want to be. To embody that state and energy.
And it's the work I'm called to lead others in.
Like the person who is finally done waiting to have the time to write the story bursting inside them to be told and finally decides to MAKE the time.
Or the woman who refuses to live in financial scarcity any longer and welcomes in the radical personal responsibility to change careers, all while continuing to work her 9-to-5.
Or the man who is no longer wiling to accept mediocre relationships and is willing to stay single and celibate until a worthwhile partnership presents itself.
What about YOU? What decision(s) would you make if you were operating as your future self instead of the current version of you?
The time is now to start watering the oak tree that is already within you. Comment below the opportunity you are going to take advantage of today that your future self will thank you for.
With fierce love,
Chazz
